Submission licenses
Each submitted version carries its own license record. The submitter must have authority to grant the selected license. Except for CC0, copyright ownership remains with the relevant rightsholder; ProofForum does not acquire exclusive copyright.
Choose carefully. Once a version is published, ProofForum treats its license as permanent for that archived version. A later version may use a different license if the submitter has authority to grant it. This page is an operational guide, not legal advice; journal, funder and institutional policies may impose additional requirements.
CC BY 4.0
Allows copying, redistribution, adaptation and commercial reuse with attribution.
CC BY-SA 4.0
Allows reuse and adaptation with attribution; adaptations must be distributed under the same license.
CC BY-NC-SA 4.0
Allows non-commercial reuse and adaptation with attribution and ShareAlike.
CC BY-NC-ND 4.0
Allows non-commercial redistribution of unchanged copies with attribution; adaptations are not licensed for distribution.
CC0 1.0
A public-domain dedication to the fullest extent permitted by law. This gives up substantially more control than the other options and may conflict with later publishing arrangements.
ProofForum perpetual non-exclusive distribution license 1.0
Copyright remains with the rightsholder. By selecting this option, the submitter grants ProofForum a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, preserve, back up, migrate between technical formats, make available, and distribute the submitted version and its metadata as reasonably necessary to operate and preserve the scholarly repository.
The license does not grant ProofForum exclusive ownership and does not, by itself, grant the public permission to create derivative works or commercially reuse the full text beyond rights otherwise available under law. ProofForum may produce accessibility, indexing, preservation and machine-readable representations that do not materially alter the scholarly content.
The submitter represents that they are authorized to grant these rights and that the submission does not conflict with third-party rights or another agreement. ProofForum may restrict access when reasonably required by law, security, rights claims or repository policy while preserving appropriate audit/history records where lawful.
Repository hosting rights for all options
Regardless of the public reuse license selected, submission also grants ProofForum the non-exclusive repository rights described in the Submission and repository agreement so the service can store, preserve, display, index and serve the version.
